Info for Poll Workers

Thank you for your interest in the election process!  The Georgetown County Board of Elections & Voter Registration is always looking for qualified Poll Workers to staff precincts throughout Georgetown County on Election Day.

As a Poll Worker, you will have a unique opportunity to serve your community, meet your neighbors, and become involved in the electoral process.  Poll Workers are compensated $135 and Poll Managers receive $195 for each election they work.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a registered voter in South Carolina, or aged 16 or 17.
  • Be willing and able to attend a Poll Worker Training Session (2-3 hours) and pass a written certification before EACH election.
  • Be prepared to work the ENTIRE Election Day, from 6:00am until approximately 7:30pm.
  • Be non-partisan and neutral when working an election.

Election Day Duties Include:

  • Greeters
  • Qualifying voters (looking up name on Voter Registration List)
  • Activating iVotronic for each voter
  • Distributing Provisional/Emergency and Fail-Safe Provisional ballots
  • Compliance with election law and procedures, and general assistance to voters
  • Be non-partisan while working on Election Day

Due to Federal Policies, All NEW Poll Workers MUST:

  • Complete a Poll Worker Packet during training.
  • Bring documentation that establishes identity and employment eligibility to your scheduled Poll Worker training class.

Training Schedule

Each poll manager must attend one entire election training session prior to each election, and successfully complete the certification quiz in order to be eligible to work.

All classes are limited to 25 people.

Please view the calendar below for a list of upcoming training sessions and their locations.  Please be on time - all classes will start promptly at their scheduled start times. If you are more than 15 minutes late, you will need to reschedule.
