Several steps have taken place this week to move the county forward with the current update of its Comprehensive Plan.
First, County Council gave first reading to the Cultural Resources Element of the Plan on Sept. 14. First readings are by title only and there was no discussion by Council. The bulk of Council Discussion usually takes place during Second Reading, which is scheduled for Sept. 28 (5:30 p.m. at Howard Auditorium.) Third and final reading will take place in October. The draft of the Cultural Resources Element may be viewed at https://gtcounty.org/396/Comprehensive-Plan-Update.
The Planning Department gave an update on the Housing Element of the plan Sept. 16. The update may be viewed at http://gtcounty.org/DocumentCenter/View/1306/September-2021-Planning-Commission-Agenda-PDF?bidId=. It begins on Page 77. The Planning Commission will schedule a workshop in which the Comprehensive Plan will be discussed. A date has not been set. A draft of a community survey regarding the comprehensive plan was presented to the Planning Commission. Commission members asked to provide remarks on changes to be made to the survey before it is sent out to the public.
