To vote in ANY election you must be registered 30 days prior to that election, once you are registered, there is no need to re-register, but please keep your information up to date to avoid issues on Election Day at your polling place.

Department Functions:

To successfully administer all Federal, state, and local elections held within Georgetown Country and provide all citizens a chance to register and vote.
The office provides information concerning absentee applications, registration deadlines, change of address forms, voting locations, precinct names, and information for all federal, state, and local elections held within Georgetown County.

Frequently Asked Questions:

PLEASE BE PREPARED (educate yourself before you go to vote) AND then PLEASE BE PATIENT

Polls are open from 7 am until 7 pm.

Curbside voting is available for those who are not able to go into the polling location.

ID is required for voting: (Choose one of the following)
• Drivers License – SC
• DMV issued Photo ID – SC
• Voter Registration Card

If you registered through the mail and DID NOT provide your ID, you will have to provide it at the polls; if you use your voter registration card, you will need one additional form of ID:

1. a current and valid photo identification OR
2. a current bank Statement – with name and address.
3. a current utility Bill – with name and address.
4. a current paycheck – with name and address.
5. a current government check – with name and address.
6. a current government document – with name and address (Voter registration card cannot be used).

No campaign materials are allowed within 200 ft of voting precinct or inside the precinct; this includes button, hats, t-shirts, bumper stickers, etc.

If a voter needs assistance at the polls, the voter MUST ask for the assistance, and must qualify for this assistance.

If you registered at the DMV, and have NOT gotten a voter registration card, please call our office to make sure you are truly registered.
